Physics-Based Modeling

 

Areté uses rigorous physics-based modeling in order to provide realistic simulations (i.e., underwater view of a helicopter) of the various remote sensor systems with which we work.


The modeling includes the physical structure of the environment, the transfer of radiation through the environment, and the interaction of the radiation with the sensor. The results of our models are well validated against real data for a range of sensor systems. The primary sensors on which we focus are passive optics sensors in the IR (long wave, midwave and near IR), visible, and millimeter bands, lidars in the visible and IR bands, and radar.

Areté models primarily focus on remote sensing in the ocean environment, and in this particular niche our models are second to none. These models incorporate both a detailed understanding of radiative transfer in the ocean environment along with the hydrodynamics of the ocean surface The results are highly accurate marine environment simulations of that are applicable to both the optical bands and the radar bands
